There are 65 English language schools in Ireland in our Stamp 2 English directory — each one is on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP) and/or holds TrustEd Ireland, the Irish State's quality mark from QQI. Badged schools are on the official TrustEd list, either as English language education providers or as higher education institutions. Check with the school which of its full-time courses it offers for student-visa purposes, and confirm current requirements on the official Irish immigration website. The differences between schools are price, class size, timetable and the help you get once you arrive.

Course prices in Ireland run from €1,194 to €6,400 for the standard 25-week visa course, which works out at roughly €112 a week. That figure covers tuition only: budget separately for accommodation, the €300 IRP registration fee, medical insurance and the funds you must show at the airport. The cheapest option we currently hold in Ireland is Cork English World at €1,194.

47 of these schools help with visa paperwork. 43 give guidance on the 20-hour-a-week work allowance that comes with Stamp 2. 43 arrange host family or student residence places, which matters most around the September and January intakes when rooms in Ireland go quickly. Classes average about 18 students.

Before you pay a deposit, open the learner-protection badge on each school profile. That cover is what refunds your fees if a school stops teaching mid-course. If the badge does not show verified insurance, ask the school for the insurer and the policy number and get the answer in writing. Being listed here does not mean GoStudy is holding that school's certificate.

Common questions

How much does it cost to study English in Ireland?
A 25-week full-time English course in Ireland costs between €1,194 and €6,400, about €112 a week of tuition. Dublin is the expensive end and Limerick is usually cheaper. For a shared-room budget, use the cost-of-living guide rather than one national band. Add about €300 for the IRP card, plus private medical insurance for the length of your stay.
Do these schools qualify for a Stamp 2 student visa?
Every school listed here is in our Stamp 2 English directory: it appears on the ILEP and/or holds TrustEd Ireland. TrustEd Ireland is the Irish State's quality mark from QQI. Badged schools are on the official TrustEd list, either as English language education providers or as higher education institutions. For a Stamp 2 you also need to enrol on a 25-week course, pay the course fees, hold private medical insurance and show the required funds. For a typical 25-week English course (residence of about eight months or less) that is €6,665 in total, or €833 a month; if your residence would run longer than eight months, the figure is €10,000. Non-visa-required nationals usually prove this at their first IRP registration, while visa-required nationals are checked at the visa stage. On fees: if your tuition is under €6,000 you pay it in full before you register or renew; if it is over €6,000 you pay at least €6,000, shown on your Letter of Enrolment. GoStudy compares schools and is not immigration advice — check the current Student Finances and Required Documents pages on irishimmigration.ie and confirm with the school before you pay.
Can I work while I study in Ireland?
Stamp 2 permission lets you work 20 hours a week during term time and 40 hours a week during the official holiday periods (June to September and 15 December to 15 January). You need a PPS number first. 43 of the schools here help students get one.
How do I choose between these schools?
Compare four things: the total price for the same course length, the average class size, whether the school arranges accommodation, and what the learner-protection badge says. If cover is not confirmed, ask for the insurer and policy before you pay. Shortlist two or three and send one enquiry — schools reply with current prices and start dates.
